I'm A Sucker For Instagram Trends | Sunday Shares

Sunday, December 23, 2018

Oh, hello. My first Sunday Shares post in five weeks. It certainly has been a while since one of these, now that I'm only posting once a week.

I'm realizing that I'm not great at fully relaxing. I do the actions just fine – watching a movie, painting my nails, reading, chilling out – but I end up feeling lazy for it because mentally I'm still thinking about all of the things I should be doing instead. It's a very Hurry up and relax kind of feeling. This weekend I am doing my best to let myself enjoy the holiday weekend without any stressful expectations.

This year we had our own Christmas tree for the first time and it makes our living room feel so cozy, especially now with all of the presents underneath. I'm going to be sad when it comes time to take it all down.

Here's what I've been loving lately:

"The Sinner"

I watched the first season on Netflix and wow, what a great show. It's about a woman who fatally stabs a man but has no idea why she did it, and the detective who is determined to find out. It's great story-telling, each episode revealing more and more, connecting the dots, and ending with something that makes you want to keep watching. There were even a few parts where I was literally yelling at the TV, with Rahul next to me asking me to "please just watch the show." Sorry dude, can't help it.

AHAVA hydration cream mask

This isn't the first time I've mentioned this brand. I'm already a fan of AHAVA moisturizers so I actually shouldn't be surprised that their hydrating face mask immediately became one of my favorites.

Sometimes deep-cleaning masks or pore strips makes my skin feel like it's been through the wringer, even though those things are supposed to help and feel nice. This mask makes my skin feel pure and refreshed. I really feel like I'm pampering myself when I use it. I'm also giving it the stamp of approval for sensitive skin.

Teddy coat

Ladies and gentleman, I've discovered the teddy coat, and I'm insulted that no one had told me about it. I'd been seeing this style of coat all over Instagram and thought I might as well try it out. What can I say, I'm a sucker for Instagram trends. I have to admit, it looks kind of silly. I mean, let's be real, it's basically a blanket with pockets. I'm wearing a fuzzy blanket out in public. But that's the beauty of it. It's the coziest; I'll be wearing it all winter.

Fitness classes

Well, I finally got around to one of my goals for the year. Better late than never, right? I like going to classes because they give me an extra push. If I'm working out solo, it's easier for me to do it at a moderate level instead of challenging. I also have more motivation to go to the gym if I have to be there at a certain time. Lately I've been going to spin classes more regularly again, along with other strength classes.

Ideally, I would love to be able to get up early enough on a couple of weekdays to go to a class before work. It'd be nice to be able to go straight home at 5 o'clock rather than going to the gym first and getting home at 8. Realistically, this is unlikely. I'm barely getting up with enough time to do my morning routine at home. To be up early enough to drive to my gym and do a workout there would be crazy. Still, it's something I can work toward. Maybe one day.

"The Mindy Project"

I had watched "The Mindy Project" when it was on Fox, but once it moved to Hulu at the beginning of the fourth season, I quickly fell behind and then stopped watching altogether. Since I now have Hulu, I decided to re-watch it all from the beginning. I've made it to season four so what I'm watching is all new to me. I watch at least one episode a day, playing it on the iPad while I get ready in the morning. Truly an underrated, hilarious show. Mindy Kaling's delivery is unbeatable.
