The Most Magical Place On Earth

After about a week and a half of knowing that I was taking a trip to Florida but still not quite believing it was actually happening, it happened.

My friend Jade and I took a 6 a.m. flight to Orlando on Friday and arrived with the whole day ahead of us. We relaxed for a while, ate lunch at an Applebee's that was connected to our hotel, went to Downtown Disney (where I bought the cutest Bambi pillow pet), and then went back to Applebee's later in the night for dessert (priorities).

Saturday was my first time back at Disney World in ten years. The only things I remember from that trip are that there's a Stitch ride (from "Lilo & Stitch") that involved spraying a really bad smell at you and that I was a huge sore loser when my sister beat me at some Buzz Lightyear game.

We rode a lot of rides (my favorite being the Little Mermaid one; you bet I sang along to every song!), met Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, saw the parade, got Mickey-shaped snacks, and checked out the gift shops.

Around 6 p.m., it started raining and eventually turned into a never-ending downpour. It was such a bummer that it actually ended up to be hilarious. We would huddle under a roof of some sort, figure out which way we needed to go on the map, and then sprint from place to place. I'm pretty sure we were the only people in the entire park who weren't wearing ponchos.

The only disappointments were that (1) you do not get "Princess" added before your name on your Starbucks drink like we thought you would, and (2) there are NO "101 DALMATIANS" MUGS. WHY? My favorite movie was very underrepresented.

Our flight back home was at 5 a.m. on Sunday, meaning we had to be up at 2 in the morning. That ended up to be about 90 minutes of sleep.

Technically, we had two flights home, since we had a layover in North Carolina, but both are a blur to me since I fell asleep before we even took off both times. At least I was comfortable in my new Mickey Mouse hoodie. (I also bought the cutest Mickey & Minnie phone case. Sometimes I pull out my phone just to stare at it.)

Now, with Florida a few days behind me, I still can't believe we actually did it. Sure, it was just two days, and I've traveled a lot in my life, but this was only my second out-of-state trip with a friend, and it was my first time on a plane with someone who wasn't my family.

I'm glad I was able to get away and do something exciting — and to share it with one of my best friends. I'm still so happy that she talked me into this trip. (Whenever I say that, she tells me, "I thought it would take a lot more effort!" I guess I'm easy to convince.)
