What Makes A Memory

Tuesday, April 11, 2017

I'm moving in two weeks, which I'm very excited about. At the same time, I'm really gonna miss this place. It was my first apartment, a year and a half living on my own. I've had a lot of great memories in the area too.

Getting pizza across the street for a movie night. Visiting all five of the town's museums in one day because it was Free Museum Day. Walking to places instead of driving whenever possible. Taking a break in a coffee shop. Playing tennis every weekend in the summer. Jogging through the park. Attending events. Exploring new areas.

It's been awesome. I've loved it here, and it'll be sad to leave it behind. But part of what makes me look back on this place and this time so fondly is that it was all shared with you.

Because it isn't so much the events that make a memory, but the person you shared them with.

We took advantage of all of the opportunities here. Part of me feels like there's no beating it, but I know that we'll move on and make a new set of memories. And one day we'll look back on that new set and think there's definitely no beating those. And so on and so forth.

This was my first place, and you helped make it great. Now it's time for our first place.
