Inside The FabFitFun Winter Box

Sunday, January 7, 2018

So I'm a little late on reviewing the FabFitFun winter box considering I got it in the mail three weeks ago, but it's because I didn't just want to do an unboxing. When I did that before, a lot of my comments were that a product seemed cool and I couldn't wait to use it. This time, I wanted to actually use the products first so I could let you know what I think about them.

By the way, this isn't sponsored at all (unfortunately. I'd totally be down for that.). I'm just obsessed with the boxes and want everyone to sign up, or at least try it out. You can even get $10 off

Also, I took these pictures before I got the iPhone X, which is a bit of a bummer because portrait mode is great and would have made these pictures look way better. Oh well. Let's get into it.

Moisture Healing Hair Mask Nelson j Beverly Hills

This was a little different than other hair masks I've used (primarily from Lush) because you apply it after you've wet your hair. All others that I've tried before have you apply it to dry hair before showering. With this one, you wet your hair, apply the mask, and then without rinsing, proceed to shampooing and conditioning. As expected, my hair felt silky and soft, so I'll definitely be using this regularly.

(I think there's another option to shampoo only, towel-dry your hair, then apply the mask and blow-dry your hair, but I was confused by the directions, so I did it the other way.)

Anti-Wrinkle Energizing Eye Masks Grace & Stella

Technically the box was either the eye masks or the hair mask, but since I'm a select member and pay annually, rather than each season, I could choose to have both! So that's what I did, because I love all masks.

Again, these were different than others I've tried (Target). First, they're in a small plastic tray-type thing where they're sitting in a liquid. I didn't know this and pulled the tray out too fast and spilled everywhere. So they probably weren't as saturated as they should have been. Second, they're shaped so one end is slightly thicker than the other AKA there is a left mask and a right mask, and I didn't notice that either so I'm pretty sure I put them on the wrong eye. Despite all of my rookie moves, I felt refreshed.

Ceramic Mug Homemade by Ayesa Curry

This might be my favorite thing in the box. I'm always down for more mugs, especially if it has a coffee pun.

Fitness Ball FFFTV

If I'm being totally honest, this is the one thing I haven't used yet, but I am going to. FabFitFun TV is a fairly new aspect of FabFitFun, a site filled with videos for a lot of different topics – cardio, pilates, yoga, meditation, recipes, and more. I've been meaning to check it out, so this is a good nudge for me to do so. There's a separate section of workout videos for utilizing the fitness ball specifically. I want to start working out more often on weekend mornings, so these will be great to follow along right in my apartment.

Poncho | BB Dakota

This is the second poncho I've owned but the first I've actually worn with an outfit. The first one I got for free with a purchase and I keep it at my desk at work to use pretty much as a blanket when I'm cold.

I did wear this one for a full day with an outfit, and while I felt like I was wearing a blanket, I was comfortable. I'm now a fan of ponchos. One drawback is that it does shed. Luckily, I wore it over a shirt of a very similar color, so it was hard for me to tell just how much, but it does leave threads behind.

Aloe Infused Cozy Socks Pointe Studio

These are the perfect thing for the wintertime. To be honest, I don't really understand the point of them or the benefit they have for your feet (I'm assuming there is one), but they're comfortable, smell great, and are perfect for cozy winter nights in.

Nine Lives Choker 8 Other Reasons

I love this necklace. It's a layered gold choker with one piece that hangs down in a T sort of shape. It's simultaneously classy yet subtle enough to be worn casually.

Eyeshadow Palette DOUCCE

Another perk of being a select member is that there are a few products in the box that I get to choose myself, in a this-or-that format. For the eyeshadow palette, I could pick nude or smokey shades. I went with nude, and even though a lot of my eyeshadows are neutral, these colors still felt different and new to what I already had.

I don't know much about eyeshadow. I want colors that feel soft when applied, look vibrant/are pigmented, and last a while. This palette checked all the boxes.

Intensive Exfoliating Treatment | Kate Somerville

First off, I wasn't expecting this to be a vibrant green, but it is. So there's that. It's a gel consistency and smells really good. The instructions say to leave it on for up to two minutes, or for sensitive skin, up to one minute. I had to take it off before I even hit a minute. It was burning me a lot, very quickly.

Now I do have sensitive skin so maybe this is normal? Even so, I gotta say, I can still tell that it worked. My skin looked great after. But because it actually hurt, I'm not sure if I'll use it again. Stay tuned to my Instagram stories to find out.

Mineral Hand Cream AHAVA

This stuff is great. It leaves my hands feeling soft (duh, no surprise) and without that slippery greasy feeling you get with a lot of lotions. Also, the hole in the bottle that you squeeze the lotion out of is smaller than usual, which is the smartest thing because you're not going to be using too much at a time since it's for your hands. Genius. Why aren't all bottles that smart?
