Sunday Shares | What I've Been Loving

Sunday, June 17, 2018

I have enough mugs that I probably don't need to buy another one for the rest of my life, but when you see one this cute on sale at T.J. Maxx while in the check-out line, you really can't pass it up.

So we had a week or two of full-on summer weather and then it was rainy and humid for a while, so I haven't been doing too much the past two weeks. Work has been hectic so I've mostly just been looking forward to relaxing on the couch whenever possible.

Last weekend I had the loveliest afternoon in the city with my friend Alyssa. We got lunch, wandered through an art fest, and went to this used bookstore that was as big as a small library. Also, after seeing how cute and well-decorated her apartment is, the first thing I did when I got back home was clean and reorganize my bookshelf with all of my new purchases.

Here's what I've been loving lately:

"15 Things I Learnt About Myself During My Late Twenties"

I liked this list by Hannah Gale because it wasn't structured as advice or things you should know. It's things she learned about herself, which is what so much of your twenties is about. Figuring yourself out. Discovering who you are. And jeez, her last point was like a big virtual hug.

Nyx matte liquid eyeliner

When it comes to eyeliner, I always use a liquid one. I don't know how anyone uses the crayons or pencils and doesn't look like it was accidentally smudged on. I just can't do it. For liquid eyeliners, I've always gone for the felt tips. Since they aren't overly flexible, they make me feel like I have more control. The downside is that whenever I'd want just a thin, subtle line, it'd end up too thick, no matter how hard I tried. But this Nyx one? It's perfect for it.

Cactus shirt

I love shirts with breast pockets. Even better when there's a cute design. I can't wait to wear this shirt from H&M all summer.

"On Maintaining Friendships IRL + Online"

This post from Francesca is my favorite thing that I've read lately. It's vulnerable and honest in the fact that maintaining friendships as an adult is frickin' hard. It's so much different in school when you automatically see your friends every day with little to no effort because they're just there. But after school, when you're living in different places juggling all of your own responsibilities, it's more difficult.

Even though it was kind of sad, I felt comforted by the post because thank god, I'm not the only one feeling like this. I'm not the only one feeling like a lousy friend. I struggle with sending texts to initiate conversations because either I'm in the middle of something and won't be able to give proper responses, or I just feel like a bother.

Maybelline Mega Plush mascara

Removing mascara can feel very harsh on the eyelashes, no matter how careful we are. I use Vaseline and a cotton ball to remove my eye makeup and I still worry that it's too rough. That's why I'm liking Maybelline's "Mega Plush" lately. The brush is... well, plush is the perfect word for it. It's super soft on your lashes. Not only does it feel nicer when applying, but it makes it easier to remove at the end of the day.
